A great book to teach children about sex is Where Did I Come From? by Peter Mayle. As a teenage mother, I was motivated to do everything I could to educate my daughter, Jennifer. She’s always been smart. At four years old she drew anatomically correct stick figures before I gave her this book. Where Did I Come From? is appropriate, tasteful, and sweet. One day while I was in the kitchen I overheard Jennifer, age five, talking to our neighbor, Carla, a year younger than her. Popped my head into the living room and saw the two of them squeezed into the taupe lounge chair, book open and held at chest level, eyes wide and fixated on the pictures, their expressions serious. I was proud of Jennifer for the manner in which she explained things to Carla. Carla, on the other hand, looked like she was overwhelmed about where babies come from. Priceless.
